Charleston Fashion Week wrapped up last Saturday. We attended events all week and participated as a vendor at Saturday's Bridal show.
Tuesday, Mom and I attended the opening night of CFW. We wanted to see the style lounge and runway tent so that we could get a grip on what to expect for Saturday's Bridal show. The Style Lounge was a blast! Tristan was sampling their crab sandwich (yum) and Paul Mitchell was doing fix ups. I was first in line for both.
Everything was great until we were sitting at a table and a couple came up and asked if they could sit with us. I said, of course, and turned back to people watching. My mom turns to me and says, "Are you okay?" Yeah, why wouldn't I beeeeoohhhhhmyyyyggghooooolyyyshhhhhh.
That's a live snake. SEWE was last month, this is Fashion Week, and that's not a necklace.
I tried to act cool, but I only lasted 52 seconds before we had to move tables. I don't care how "nice" you tell me the snake is. It's alive and wants to eat me.
I later asked my mom, How were you not freaked out by the snake? She says, "Oh, I just ignored it." You read that right - she ignored the snake. Does this technique work if you're in the ocean next to a shark as well?
Wednesday was Kate McDonald Bridal's show with Lula Kate at William Aiken House. Earlier that day, my Wednesday entailed 432 errands to get ready for Saturday including an oil change and tire rotation. We were under the impression that the show lasted until 7:30pm. By the time we got downtown it was 6:30. (Plenty of time!) I dropped off Camille and Mom, and then went to park. I didn't anticipate a 30 minute parking escapade. I walked in at 7pm and held out my hand for a glass of champagne and heard "It's over". ugh. The good news is the models were still walking around in the gorgeous gowns and I was able to see the setup. How beautiful!?
These little boys were the best. Fashion is like sah exhausting.
Thursday night, Michael and I had a date to CFW. I love watching the shows with Michael because his opinion is so black and white; it's either "like it" or "that's absurd". There's no in between. Where as I'm like - ooooh maybe with a different sleeve in softer lighting I would wear it. All in all, the show was great! The emerging designer was a little too nouveau for us but we loved all the boutique shows.
Oh and look who I ran into! Craig from Southern Charm! He's actually very delightful.
By Friday, I'd managed to throw out my neck between my attempt to use heavier weights at barre class the day before and just being a maniac and dragging Camille in her car seat with me everywhere - Camille + car seat = 25 pounds. I'm no body builder. So while I should have been packing up the car for Saturday's show and then attending my friend Lauren's bridal wine & cheese night Friday night, instead, I was laid up on the couch on a heating pad, taking Aleve, and directing Michael as to what to pull out of the garage and put in the car.
And now I'll leave you in suspense because Camille is fussing for me to pick her up. I think this will make a good intermission and I'll tell you how Saturday went in my next post! MUAHAHA.
